According to the Cortez Journal on Oct. 30, 2008, "The higher number of mortgage foreclosures for 2008 in Montezuma County is not raising any alarms at the county treasurer's office. "  Montezuma County Public Trustee Sherry Dyess says, "We are still not exceedingly high like the bigger, more populated counties."  Dyess points to the banks as the reason behind the slower pace of failed mortgages.  "The local banks are more cafeful with their loans," she said.

6.  APPEAL TO ALL THE SENSES: Make sure blinds are pulled enough to let natural light shine in.  Consider using scented candles, flowers or fresh-baked goodies to engage buyers.  Leave some treats out for potential buyers to snack on.  Play some light and relaxing jazz.  Be sure that everything is clean to the touch.  Do all of these things and it will add up to a homebuying experience, not just a look around.
